FO Friday – Arwen jumper

Happy Friday everyone!

I have finished it! My first jumper of the year, and I’m so so in love with it! I’ve started the Arwen jumper (designed by Isabell Kraemer) at the end of April and I’m so pleased that I have finished it finally as the weather really is getting cool now. I have to say I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to wear it this year, as I thought my bump wouldn’t fit, but the loose fit of the jumper actually makes it perfectly fine to fit my expanding belly.

I really loved working on it, I think that the lace detail at the top is beautiful and I’m very happy with the softness of the yarn I used (called Fiddlesticks superb 4). It’s a machine washable acrylic too so it should make washing the jumper easy (which is great because the colour really is quite pale).

That was my achievement of the week, I hope you all had a great creative time and that you have a fabulous weekend (I know I’m looking forward to my last spinning class!)

WIP Wednesday – Possum shawl

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have mentioned in my yearly goals that I would like to design more this year, and I’ve really been enjoying designing amigurumi so far. I have had an idea for a knitted shawl in my head since last week though, and so I’ve started on it using some super soft possum/merino/silk yarn I bought while in New-Zealand. The yarn is Zealana Kauri and it’s just amazing. I’ve been using my new interchangeable needles from Knitpro too, and I have to say that they are great, the transition from cable to needle is just so smooth. Anyway, the shawl is in three colours and I am doing a simple lace pattern with the green/mustardy colour.

I really love the overall effect, I’m hoping to have this finished by next week and I’m hoping that the blocking really makes the lace stand out 🙂 I think it’s pretty good for my first ‘freestyle’ knitting project.

Have you ever designed a project on a whim? I’d love to know!

WIP Wednesday – Diamond lace kimono

Happy Wednesday readers!

I have to say it’s been a bit hard to knit or crochet today, as it’s been super hot in Melbourne! But I realised that there is a project I have yet to share with you.

A little while back, I may have mentioned that my lovely nana sent some yarn in a parcel and I have decided to follow the current fashion and use it to make a lacy kimono. I feel like kimonos have been everywhere this season, and I’m very happy to me making one (which I probably won’t use until autumn, but that’s okay!).

The pattern I’m following is a free pattern by Kaitlin Blasing from Originally Lovely. I love this pattern, the only issue is that the gauge was a bit confusing to me. It read 16 stitches = 10 cm , but I’m not sure how many rows, or even if that was using stockinette. Oh well, I’ve started and I shall see, but it seems good so far, I think I will definitely fit in (I’ve tried wrapping it around me and so far so good!)

Here it is, isn’t the pattern lovely?

I’m really looking forward to finishing it, it’s supposed to be knitted in one piece starting from the bottom and I’m almost at the neck, yay!

What have you been working on this week? I’d love to know ☺️
