FO Friday (slightly late) – Bibs

Hello everyone and happy weekend!

I was meant to post this yesterday evening but I got home from work and was completely knackered so I couldn’t be bothered. I do think it is time to share though!

You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty inconsistent over the past few months in my posting and I’m my following of your blogs. I’ve been busy, true, but that’s not entirely all there is to it. I’m super excited to annonce to you that I’m pregnant with my fist baby! I’m now four months in, and starting to regain some more energy, so I think I will be crafting more and posting back on my regular schedule.

Of course, as soon as I found out I knew I had to make something straight away. I turned to Pinterest as I often do and found a very good tutorial to make bibs. I’ve already got warned by my family and my in laws that babies drool… a lot! And that you need long bibs so this pattern was perfect. I’ve set out to make plenty of bibs in cute fabrics (I’ve bought a few different patterns with animals on them). I don’t know the gender yet so I’ve just been getting gender neutral ones so far. I also had some stashed fabric in pink that I’ve used and I figured that it wouldn’t really matter even if it was a boy, because they’ll spend most time in the washing anyway, right?

Anyway, after much rambling, here is my first bib!

On one side the fabric is plain cotton and on the other it’s flannelette. I’ve heard they are great materials for baby items as they are soft and washable. I’ve already cut a few more and assembled a couple as well already but I forgot to take pictures before I left home so that will have to wait. I am just so excited and can not wait for baby to be here. Have an amazing weekend!

FO- Baby Humpback Whale

Happy Wednesday lovely readers!

It’s alive! My baby humpback is finished, and will be delivered next week to my friend, I hope he loves it as much as I do! One of my friends suggested that I make a huge version of it and sleep with it, that would be totally awesome, maybe a should give it a go! If you fancy making your own, the pattern is free on 1dogwoof‘s website. Have you ever tried making giant amigurumi?

I love it so much! It’s already in the suitcase, all ready for it’s travel back to Brisbane. I hope you are all having a great week!

WIP Wednesday – baby whale

Happy Wednesday!

I have a confession to make, I am a bit late on my Christmas presents. Yep, you read that right, Christmas presents, at the end of January! As you may remember, I moved in October, so I haven’t actually seen some of my friends since then. I do have a trip to Queensland planned in the next couple of weeks though, and I really wanted to make cool presents for my friends.

I’ve actually had this project saved in my Ravelry queue for a while, and my friend loves marine animals so I thought this would be perfect!

How cute is it already? The pattern is the Baby Humpback Whale from 1dogwoof. And it’s free! Can’t wait to finish this guy, he will just be the best huggable amigurumi 🐋

Have you decided to start a project you’ve had on your list for a while recently?

Little Hearts for Grace

Hello everyone!

I hope you’ve had a great weekend, here it’s been scorching hot! Today I’d like to share with you a charity CAL I’ve taken part in, and that you can still join in before the end of January.

This CAL is run by Lindsey from Lottie & Albert and Jen @justlittlejen on Instagram. Seven squares have been designed and are available for free on Lindsey’s website. The goal is to make some of those squares and send them over, so that Jen and Lindsey can make a blanket and raffle it in the UK to raise money for two charities: Bristol’s Children’s Hospital and Little Hearts Matter.

This CAL started because Lindsey and Jen have a common friend whose little girl Grace was born with only half a heart. Both of them have been amazed with how Grace’s family has coped, and they wanted to help in their own way, by raising money for the charities that helped them when Grace needed it the most. Lindsey explains it very well in her podcast on youtube if you would like to know more about it.

I was very touched by Grace’s story, so I decided to make three squares and send them to the UK. The colours should be including purples (Grace’s favourite colour) or pastels.

There is still some time left if you want to join in too, they are really fast to make (it only took me a couple hours for all three of them). I’m sure that the more squares they receive, the better it will be. If you are in the UK, you can also buy a raffle ticket to support the charities (it won’t be available internationally because of strict UK raffle laws).

I hope you guys have a great week ❤️

Wiley the Wisp pattern and call for testers

Happy Wednesday beautiful readers!

I hope you have been well, the week here has been busy! I have finally started writing the patterns I entered in the amigurumi design contest and I have actually just finished writing up Wiley the Wisp’s pattern. I have decided to make Wiley a free pattern, which you can find on my Ravelry page following the link below.

Find the pattern here!

If you decide to make him, don’t forget to tag me on Instagram @emmacraftsdesign so that I can see your creations 😊

I am also in the process of writing up Sandy the Sea Dragon’s pattern. I think that Sandy will be a paid for pattern but I will need a couple of testers to make sure the pattern is correct and easy to understand.

If you would like to be a tester for Sandy, please let me know in the comments and I’ll chose two people that I’ll announce on next Monday.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Monday lovely readers!

I probably don’t need to remind you, but tomorrow is Halloween! You might have noticed but I absolutely adore Halloween 😊

I am all ready for trick and treaters tomorrow, I have set up my Halloween decorations and have lollies handy, including eye balls and vampire lollypops .

Here are my Halloween makes, they took me only around a week and they were super fun and cute to make. The good thing is that I will still have them next year! Aren’t they great?

To celebrate, I thought I would share a few Halloween posts that I’ve come across, with the patterns I’ve used and also a couple of Halloween recipes!

I hope the you all have an awesome Halloween tomorrow, that you eat too much lolly and that you get a good fright if that’s your thing!

FO Friday – Candice Doll (and free pattern for shorts)

Happy Friday my lovely readers!

Today I want to show you the newest addition to my amigurumi family: a cute little dolly!

This doll is quite special though as it represents one of my good friends. She asked me for that doll as well as another one of her girlfriend (who is also one of my close friends). The goal is to finish them by next week and send them to their new owners in France.

IMG_6756

I was very excited by that project as I think they will make very special gifts. I absolutely love how Candice turned out too! The pattern is from the very talented MaryJ Handmade/Le Arti Di Minerva on Ravelry. It’s a free pattern and there are no instruction for the assembly but if you are familiar with amigurumi it’s not too bad! I actually sew the head close and then added the body (worked continuously from the legs) and I didn’t stuff the arms.

IMG_6673

For the hair, I used a hair cap, following the same pattern as for the head but with a hook size above (from a 3.5 to a 4) and stopping after row 14.

I also had to make up the clothes as I went and I wrote the pattern for the shorts. I thought I would share it here with you guys if you want to make your own doll 😊

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch

Round 1 – Ch26, sl st in first ch

Rounds 2-6 – 26 sc around

Start on the first leg, you will work only with the next 13 stitches

Round 7-9 (leg 1) – 13 sc around

Fasten off and join yarn to the remaining 13 stitches

Round 7-9 (leg 2) – 13 sc around

Fasten off. Sew the tails in and you’re finished!

I hope you guys enjoyed the pattern, please tag me on instagram if you end up sharing your pictures @emmacraftsdesign

Have a great weekend!

Dream knitting

Happy Friday lovely readers!

I have been busy this week but I can’t quite show you what I’ve been up to, so I thought instead I would share some of the knitting projects I’m planning on making in the next few weeks and hopefully this will keep me accountable!

I have some yarn leftover from the Aquagirl skein and I am planning on making a pair of socks for my mum 🙂 I showed her the yarn last week and she loved it! Because I’m not quite sure how much yarn I will need though, I have decided to make her a pair of toe up socks using this pattern.

IMG_7504_1_medium2

At the same time I got Aquagirl, I also got the beautiful Seafoam colour way, and I want a pair of socks for myself with them. As I am a little bit obsessed with Harry Potter, I’ve decided to make the Hermione’s everyday socks. I think that the pattern on the yarn will be very nice with the pattern for the socks.

IMG_9323edit_medium2

And the last thing I want to knit is a beanie for my little cousin. I’ve browsed a few patterns and I’ve found this simple but cute pattern on Ravelry for the Bankhead beanie.

dsc_0019_33317338776_o_medium2

What do you guys think? Do you have a favourite beanie pattern?

WIP Wednesday – Springtime Versatile Shawl

Happy Wednesday!

Last week, Brenna over at Crochet539 posted a pattern for the Springtime Versatile shawl. I immediately really liked the look of it, and as I lost my scarf last year when I went to Tasmania, I was on the lookout for a new pattern to make. This is it! With the weather getting cooler here, this was the perfect time to make a start.

IMG_5887

The colours I have chosen are yellow and purple, I really like this combo and I think it will brighten the darker winter days. I’m already past the half way point, so hopefully I’ll be finished soon 🙂 you can follow this project on my Ravelry page.

Thanks again Brenna for this beautiful pattern! I can’t wait to wear my new shawl 🙂

Wolf and crow – projects update

Hello lovely readers!

This week is no different from last week, I’m just so busy it’s insane! I did a little progress on my January cross stitch from the snowflower diaries, I stitched the crow and it’s very cute 🙂

I’ve also found what to make for my goddaughter, I’m making her a little wolf amigurumi from Moon Sweet Collection (free pattern). Here it is so far.

I also have the legs and tail but haven’t attached them yet.

I hope you’re all having a smashing week 😉

X
