Blurre Shawl

Happy Friday!

I have finished it!!! I’m so so excited about this shawl, and it’s been finished just in time to enter into Deanne CAL (finishing today, mind you!) 😊

Anyway I’ve already rambled a lot about how much I love this shawl, so without further ado here are some pictures.

I love the colours I’ve chosen so much! My favourite part in probably in the middle, the variegated yarn kind of looks like a leopard print 😊

I’m probably going to wear this shawl a lot, I’m planning on making a second one as well once I have a bit more sock yarn minis! Have a great weekend!

May SAL with Helene

Happy Wednesday!

I know, it’s the end of June, but I’ve only just finished my May mystery stitch along from Hélène et Mahélia. I think that I’ve been so cold when I was down in Melbourne that I haven’t been motivated to cross stitch much but I really want to get back to it, because I just really love this year’s designs 😊

May was birds again, and just look at them, they are adorable!

I still need to finish off the April one and obviously do this one as well, I might get them done over the weekend.

In other random news, today was Dobby the house elf’s birthday apparently, and so I wore two different socks (mostly cause I couldn’t find my second grey sock from the washing 😂). I thought some of you who are as obsessed with Harry Potter as me might enjoy the gesture 😁

A HO and some awesome podcasts

Happy Monday readers!

It looks like I’ve skipped my Friday post 🙈 whoops! It’s actually probably better that way, I have mostly been working on the same projects so maybe it wasn’t as interesting anyway. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather last week, but after this weekend I feel motivated again and ready to get on with this new week!

I have a half object (HO) today, my Sock it to me! made with the Aquagirl yarn from Fibre Revolution 😊 I love this yarn even more after working with it! It’s super soft and I love all the pops of colours, I actually think that the sock pattern I used shows them so well too.

I also wanted to share with you 4 podcasts/ video blogs that I’ve really been enjoying so much in the last month. I feel like video blogs have been very popular lately, and I love being able to put a face and a voice to those bloggers. The only negative is that I get serious yarn envies and that I’ve been spending more money, but it’s supporting small businesses, so it’s okay right? 😁 Those are is no particular order, please also share with me if there is any other podcast I must watch!

  • Potter and Bloom – I just love Emma, she makes me laugh and I love seeing all her beautiful crocheted and knitted objects. I’ve back watched all her episodes because I enjoy watching her so much (I hope that doesn’t sound too creepy 😂) She is actually the one who inspired me to start knitting again and her designs are the cutest!
  • Zeens and Roger – Rosina is just so relatable and I love how honest she is about everything! I particularly enjoyed watching footage of her crochet corner of shame (it made me feel better about mine 😂) and since I have been follower her blog for a while too, it’s like getting to know a friend better.
  • Lottie and Albert – Lindsey has just started her video blog adventure and I have been following her from the beginning. My favourite thing about her podcast is how enthusiastic she is, it really inspires me to see how excited she gets about projects and yarn, and I can totally relate to that!
  • Addydae Designs – I have already talked about Deanne before, she is the designer for the Blurre shawl and I am obsessed with how mine is turning out! I love her humour too, and I love that she is an Aussie! It’s so great to learn about all the yarny events happening here and to learn about all the wonderful local dyers! Beware though, she is a serious enabler 😊

That’s it for me today! If you have other podcasts you love, please share! And have a great week!

Sock Wednesday

Happy Wednesday readers!

I’ll keep today’s post short and sweet, I’ve been mostly working on socks as you may have guessed! Also I received some AMAZING yarn that I got from Fibre Revolution. Carmela is a Brisbane local, and her hand dyed yarn is just so pretty! I got two colours on her sock base, Sea Foam (left) and Aqua Girl (right).

IMG_6211

How amazing right? I’ve started another pair of socks straight away with Aqua Girl and I’m using the Sock it to me pattern from Yarnspirations.

IMG_6215

I am so in love with the colours, especially all the speckles, they are the best! Also the yarn is so soft and it’s been so nice to work with! Did I mention I started tonight? And fear not, I have not forgotten my Mercury socks, I have actually finished the first one on Saturday, so it took me less than a week to make one, I’m so please with myself ☺️

IMG_6216

The fit is perfect and I love how the colours change.

That’s it for today, I hope you guys are all having a great week (I’ve been marking exams and I can tell you I’ve been having a good laugh with some of the answers!)

New project bag

Happy Monday lovely readers!

This weekend I had some prime craft time while watching the Harry Potter movies 😊 I have been having yarn everywhere though lately and so I decided to make myself a new project bag to keep all my yarn in. I made it using calico and it’s actually pretty huge! I even put in a zipper and I was very please with how it turned out (excuse the wrinkledness, I still haven’t found my iron!)

You have probably noticed as well the red patch on the bag? Because the fabric is calico, I thought it would be cool to have a long term project to decorate the bag with cross stitch, and so I’ve made a start on this cute little star fish! I just love how tiny the stitches are and I’m sure it will look great once I’ve done more around it too.

And lastly, I just wanted to show you what’s currently in the bag! My Blurre shawl from Addydae Designs 😍 I love everything about this shawl and I can’t wait to finish it, hopefully before the 30th of June so that I can enter it in the CAL!

IMG_6207

What have you guys been working on lately? Do you have project bags to keep your crafting area tidy(er)?

Fantastic Bake Along – Pizza party

FantasticBakeAlong

Happy Saturday everyone!

Once again I am tuning in for the Fantastic Bake Along hosted by Tami @tanglewoodknots and Tracy @itsatsweetday. I pinched the logo from Tracy’s website, I hope it’s okay with you Tracy I just love it! This time, Brenna chose the recipe, dough for a pizza party! You can find the recipe on Tracy’s BAL post here.

I have actually made two very different pizza from this recipe, and both were delicious (I obviously only had one of the two, but my husband said his pizza was great and it did smell delicious).

So, first I made the dough for the pizza. The recipe was super easy to follow and only took about 10 minutes. Then I proofed the dough for slightly longer than the recipe called for (I did 1h instead of 20 min).

You might be wondering why my mixing bowl is on top of another container, well that’s my trick for proofing dough in winter. I boil water and put it in an insulated container, with my bowl on top so that the dough is on top of a warm surface, which make it raise better. It works the charm, even when it’s cold!

Then it was on to rolling the dough out and topping it.

The pizza on the left is my actual pizza. But why is there nothing on it? Because I wanted a white base pizza topped with fresh ingredients! Here are the pizza after cooking

I personally really enjoy a pizza with fresh ingredients, I just love the contrast between a nice warm and crispy crust and the freshness of tomatoes, mozzarella and basil! yum! Dylan had tomato base, bacon bits, mushrooms and cheese and it looked pretty tasty too!

I can’t wait to read about everyone else’s pizza, I hope they have been as successful as mine!

If you are interested in participating, contact Tami or Tracy and you can also follow my Pinterest board where I will be adding all the recipes for the Bake Along.

Please also check out the other amazing bakers/cooks participating in the Fantastic BAL

WIP Wednesday – Mercury socks

Happy Wednesday readers!

I hope you are having a good week so far, mine has been pretty busy after the break last week. I have been on a sock rampage, I have only started those Mercury socks on Sunday and look how much I’ve done already!

IMG_6185

I have turned the heel already and have started knitting the foot. I really love how the yarn stripes, the colours are just so cheerful! The pattern I’m using is a free pattern on Ravelry from Kim Drotar and I like it a lot, especially how easy it is to remember. I’ve also been loving my new 9 inches (30 cm) circular needles, they are just so good for this type of socks and I feel like they’ve made it much faster.

I also have received my yarn order finally! yay! I got 4 colours and the yarn is from Scheepjes (it’s Catona which is mercerised cotton). I followed your advice and went to Wool Warehouse, and honestly it was a very good price, especially for shipping all the way to Australia.

IMG_6183

Aren’t the colours pretty? I’ve already started the first row of the shawl I’m planning to make, I really hope that it works as I see it in my head but only time will tell!

That’s it for me, what are you bunch up to? I’d love to hear from you! And if you want a bit more updates, check my Instagram, I’ve been trying to post a bit more there, I’m @emmacraftsdesign if you’re interested 🙂

I shawl make all the pretty things!

Happy Monday lovely people ❤️

I hope you all had a fab weekend, we came back from our trip down to Melbourne and today was back to work. I have been trying to catch up with all of your wonderful blogs but I have to say that today was really busy so hopefully I will get more time during the week to do this 😊

I don’t know if it’s because the weather has been so much colder or because I’ve been trying to be a bit more active on Instagram, but I’m just feeling so inspired right now, I just want to make all the things!

I’ve been working quite a lot on my virus shawl over my mini holidays and I have made it to the second skein of Holst Garn Coast. Yay!

IMG_6180

This colour is called Marlin and I just love it! because the shawl is getting so much bigger, I think I’ll only be able to get two or three more pattern repeats with this colour, and then I still have my third blue to add.

I have also recently stumbled on the Blurre shawl from Addydae Designs. I LOVE it! It’s just so clever how the colours blend into each other to form this really cool effect. I had to make it! I’m using some Schoppel yarn I bought in Amsterdam last year and the leftovers from my socks for this. This is where I’m at so far and I think it looks like a sunset, so pretty! 😍

IMG_6179

If you want to make your own Blurre, Deanne (the designer) is hosting a CAL on her Ravelry that will run until the 30th of June, so you still have time to join if you want to 🙂

That’s it for me for today, I wish you all a great week and I’ll be back on Wednesday with some sock WIP!

I’m addicted to socks!

Hello lovely readers!

I have finished my first real knitted pair of socks (pairs 1 and 2 being more like slippers than actual socks) and I am completely converted! I have been wearing them all of today and they just are so warm and confortable (which is great because it’s been quite cold here). In fact, I love them so much that I have already cast on another pair for myself and I will also make a pair for Tracy over at It’s a T-Sweet Day (I’m sharing hand-knitted socks love ❤️)

The pair I finished is the Glynis design from Cookie A. and I used Schoppel-Wolle Admiral  4 ply in grey for them. I also just started the Mercury socks from Kim Drotar, and I’m using a gradient yarn in reds and oranges for those ones. I still need to chose a design for the ones I will make for Tracy but I’m sure I’ll find the perfect one soon.

IMG_6166

These are my Glynis, aren’t they pretty? I predict a lot more socks to come, so if you have a sock pattern you love, please let me know in the comments 🙂

Charmed Gauntlets – Nerdish Delights

Happy Wednesday readers!

As you may know I am in Melbourne, Victoria this week and it is freezing cold! So cold in fact that I thought I needed to make myself a pair of wrist warmers! I’ve wanted to make those for a while, as I won the pattern from Denise from Nerdish Delights on one of her giveaway on Instagram (I was super excited, as I had never won anything before!). I guess it just wasn’t cold enough in Brisbane but here, it sure is. I used LionBrand Heartland to make those and they turned out so warm and cosy.

I just LOVE the pockets on them! They are just so handy to carry some loose change/ credit card/ lip balm. I’m super glad I finally got around to making those as I’ve worn them everyday since I finished them last Saturday. If you want to make those, you can find the pattern in Denise’s Etsy shop and I think she also sells finished wrist warmers there as well.

I hope you guys are all having a great week, and hopefully I haven’t frozen to death by Friday for my next post 😂
