Happy Monday beautiful readers!
My regular readers will know that I have a huge love for amigurumi and that recently I’ve ventured into designing a couple of my own. You might remember Millie the manta and Arno the snail. Well let me introduce you to my newest addition, Dumbo the octopus!
It all started when we visited the Melbourne museum in early June. I actually saw a few pictures of deep sea octopi and I got really inspired, I think they are super cute!
So I set out to work a couple of days ago and I was pretty happy with the main body of it.
I did want to have a different colour for the underneath of the tentacles though, so I chose a grey which I think really complements the blue. And here he it! He is probably my favourite so far, but I’m pretty partial because I really love octopi!
Isn’t he cute? I decided on Dumbo for his name because he looks like a dumbo octopus!
I hope you guys are having a good week! 😘
Happy Monday readers!
First, I’d like to thank everyone for your lovely comments and suggestions on buying yarn online. I’ve followed the advice that a few of you gave me and placed an order with Wool Warehouse, and I got Scheepjes Catona in a few different colours (I will post a picture when my squishy parcel arrives).
Like I said last week, I’ve got this shawl idea stuck in my head for a little while now and I have finally started on making some swatches for the different stitches I want to use.
The top picture is the star stitch, it took me a little while to figure it out but I ended up getting it after watching this tutorial from the Crochet Crowd. On the bottom right is some kind of net stitch worked up in triangles (I’m still a bit unsure about this one) and on the bottom left is a shell stitch. I had to try this one a few times as I wanted to include a decrease in the pattern with the same slope as decreasing the net or the star stitches. I have also re-done a starfish in filet crochet and I really like this version so it will be the one I keep. And last but not least I have made this little fishy using tapestry crochet.
I’m really liking how all the elements are turning out, now I just hope that when my yarn arrives and I start crocheting, everything comes together well, but only time will tell 😊
I wish you all a great week!
I have finally made trials for a shark appliqué, and I’m really happy with the results! What do you guys think?
I’ve also been trying filet crochet, and I have to say that it’s such a cool technique! I’ve done some starfish and I’ve tried either having the starfish in ‘solid’ or in ‘filet’. I’m not sure which one I prefer, the idea would be to turn one of those into a shawl. I think that I will use the design on the left regardless, I like that starfish better than the other one. Which one do you prefer?
I’m also hoping to get some cross stitch finished by Friday, but we’ll see, this week has been crazy!
