Happy Wednesday beautiful readers!
I hope that this last week before Christmas isn’t too crazy and that you are all getting into holiday mode. I have my last week of work before the holidays now and it’s been quite hard to stay focused when all I want to do is bake and craft!
You probably remember a few weeks back I participated in the Fantastic Creature Amigurumi design contest from amigurumipatterns.net. I wanted to say a very warm thank you to everyone who voted for me, it was my first participation and seriously it was awesome!
Wiley and Sandy did pretty good too, I was very excited to get over 500 votes with Sandy, it was really a great experience and I can’t wait for next year’s contest!
I did not win the contest (the first person had over 2000 votes for her design!) but I’m really happy with how I did and all the participants earned a place in the December ami-along hosted on amigurumipatterns.net. Which brings me to today’s WIP: meet my Christmoose! He is Sabrina Somers design for the December ami-along and he is adorable!
He tuned out so cute! I’m very excited to add the finishing touches: baubles in sparkly yarn! ✨
Are you currently participating in an Ami-along or have you participated before? I’d love to know!
Happy Wednesday lovely readers!
I’m a bit sad to announce that we had no trick or treaters yesterday, so I was a bit sad but on the other hand, more lollies for us, so still a win!
Today I’ve finished my Liula stole. The design is from Emma Potter from Potter & Bloom and I absolutely adored it! I started this last week on the 24th and I literally could not put it down! Emma was also organising a crochet-along for Liulas FO so I was able to enter it on her Ravelry thread. It was super fun to see everyone’s FO, they all look so great!
Here is mine, pretty good right?
What I loved is that the pattern calls specifically for a yarn cake in 4 ply, and I have to say I had been dying to try one of those! I actually found out that they sell some at Lincraft, which is an Australian craft store chain and I had to go and buy one. Because the Liula pattern is inspired by leaves, I chose rather autumnal colours and I love my new stole! I think it will get quite a bit of wear, especially because it’s still pretty cold here during spring.
Have you participated in any CAL recently? I’d love to know about them!
Happy Monday lovely readers!
It has been a while but I have finally finished square 9 of my LOTR CAL! I have been seriously distracted by other projects but I hope that I can get back in the groove and finally get done with this huge blanket!
It’s a very short one today because I’m actually at a conference all week and so I won’t have much time for blogging. I do hope you all have a great week and I’ll try to be back on Wednesday with some plane knitting updates 🙂
I have finished it!!! I’m so so excited about this shawl, and it’s been finished just in time to enter into Deanne CAL (finishing today, mind you!) 😊
Anyway I’ve already rambled a lot about how much I love this shawl, so without further ado here are some pictures.
I love the colours I’ve chosen so much! My favourite part in probably in the middle, the variegated yarn kind of looks like a leopard print 😊
I’m probably going to wear this shawl a lot, I’m planning on making a second one as well once I have a bit more sock yarn minis! Have a great weekend!
Happy Monday lovely readers!
This weekend I had some prime craft time while watching the Harry Potter movies 😊 I have been having yarn everywhere though lately and so I decided to make myself a new project bag to keep all my yarn in. I made it using calico and it’s actually pretty huge! I even put in a zipper and I was very please with how it turned out (excuse the wrinkledness, I still haven’t found my iron!)
You have probably noticed as well the red patch on the bag? Because the fabric is calico, I thought it would be cool to have a long term project to decorate the bag with cross stitch, and so I’ve made a start on this cute little star fish! I just love how tiny the stitches are and I’m sure it will look great once I’ve done more around it too.
And lastly, I just wanted to show you what’s currently in the bag! My Blurre shawl from Addydae Designs 😍 I love everything about this shawl and I can’t wait to finish it, hopefully before the 30th of June so that I can enter it in the CAL!
What have you guys been working on lately? Do you have project bags to keep your crafting area tidy(er)?
Happy Monday lovely people ❤️
I hope you all had a fab weekend, we came back from our trip down to Melbourne and today was back to work. I have been trying to catch up with all of your wonderful blogs but I have to say that today was really busy so hopefully I will get more time during the week to do this 😊
I don’t know if it’s because the weather has been so much colder or because I’ve been trying to be a bit more active on Instagram, but I’m just feeling so inspired right now, I just want to make all the things!
I’ve been working quite a lot on my virus shawl over my mini holidays and I have made it to the second skein of Holst Garn Coast. Yay!
This colour is called Marlin and I just love it! because the shawl is getting so much bigger, I think I’ll only be able to get two or three more pattern repeats with this colour, and then I still have my third blue to add.
I have also recently stumbled on the Blurre shawl from Addydae Designs. I LOVE it! It’s just so clever how the colours blend into each other to form this really cool effect. I had to make it! I’m using some Schoppel yarn I bought in Amsterdam last year and the leftovers from my socks for this. This is where I’m at so far and I think it looks like a sunset, so pretty! 😍
If you want to make your own Blurre, Deanne (the designer) is hosting a CAL on her Ravelry that will run until the 30th of June, so you still have time to join if you want to 🙂
That’s it for me for today, I wish you all a great week and I’ll be back on Wednesday with some sock WIP!
Happy Wednesday readers!
I have taken back to my LOTR crochet along now that my ripple blanket is almost done (2 rows left, yay!). I have made a start on Gandalf’s pipe, and here is what it looks like so far.
I’ve also been baking today, I made a fresh batch of madeleines using my nana’s recipe and they were delicious!
It was actually quite funny because I was using fresh eggs that a friend brought over and the madeleines turned out so bright compared to usual! I even though something was wrong before I realised what was happening 😂
If you are interested with the recipe, I’ll post it next week, just let me know in the comments 😊
I have finished yet another square on my LOTR graphghan CAL. Gandalf the Grey is ready to save Middle Earth. You can find all my LOTR related posts by clicking on the LOTR CAL tab at the top of my blog or by following this link.
I still have 6 squares to go, and I’d really like to get finished by May to enter the finished blanket in a craft show! Better get hooking faster!
Have a great weekend!
Happy Wednesday crafters!
Like I said last week, my LOTR graphghan is a major WIP that I really hope to finish this year. I’ve been getting back into it but my major issue has been finishing the center square. Why on earth did I think that bobbles was a good idea? I love the look of it obviously but it is taking me forever and it’s been quite hard on my wrist. But I’m almost there and then I can start Saruman 🙂
To get some extra motivation, yesterday I decided to join the lovely people from the “Stitch and bitch Brisbane” and it was super great! Everyone was so nice, the projects looked amazing and I got that extra push to get that square finished (hopefully next week). If you’re interested, they are meeting up every Tuesday around 5-6 pm at the Fox hotel on Melbourne street.
Now, back to the bobbles!
Second last week of our LOTR crochet along! whoop-whoop!
This is the last corner square and you have the choice between Arwen’s pendant and the tree of Gondor!
