Monthly Archives: March 2016

March SAL 2016

Hello everyone! With March almost over, it is time for me to share the final steps of the March SAL from Helene. This is the first month I’ve actually guessed almost straight away what the final would be! Yay me!

And when I went to the craft fair the other week I found a pretty fabric that I think will go with this design perfectly.

I wish you all a great end to March and I’ll see you in April!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!

I hope you all had a great time with your family and that your got spoilt by the Easter bunny! Here, we got waaaay too much chocolates but it was all worth it!

I also made some Easter baked goodies over the weekend: hot cross buns!

Don’t they look yummy? Instead of just using sultanas I used a mix of dried fruits/ berries which I find even yummier!

I also got busy making a present for Dylan’s little cousin who is turning 2 soon. He is in his dinosaur phase apparently so I made this adorable stegausaurus

Look at him go!

I hope you guys had an amazing crafty long weekend!

😘

Poké-alphabet week 22

Happy Friday everyone!

Today was a great relaxing day for Good Friday. We had the day off and we spent it with Dylan’s family eating some lovely seafood. I got so much done this week on my Poké alphabet, I think I might be able to finish by next week if I continue at this rate 🙂

  Wooper and Xatu got finished!

And I managed to stitch the outlines for the whole bottom row, and even get a start on the pokeball colours!

I wish you all an amazing Easter break and I hope it’s filled with crafty goodness 🙂

Let’s get cosy, shall we?

Happy Wednesday!

This week is a short one due to Easter and I’m extra glad about it! I may have set unrealistic goals for March (or I may have been a bit lazy this month ^^) but the fact is that I really need to get several of my crafting projects finished. I have done lots on my poke-alphabet already this week and I can’t wait to show you all I’ve done on Friday.

I have made really good progresses on my teapot cosie though, and I will enter it at the Brookfield show in May. I’m pretty excited and pretty nervous as well as this will be my first craft show 🙂

Without further ado, here it is!

crocheted some leaves that I attached to the cosie

some embroidered roses make for a nice bouquet

view from above, I still have a lot to do to cover the whole pot!

closer view of the pansies. And some extra leaves to add some green

I hope you guys like it and if you have suggestions for more flowers or if you know of a pattern you love, let me know 🙂

Stitches and crafts fair

Hello readers!

I hope you all had a terrific weekend 🙂 I sure did! This weekend was the stitches and crafts fair in Brisbane and it was pretty good!

When we entered, there was this amazing wall of knitted and crocheted items. So bright and colourful!

All the shops were pretty good, I got a new self healing cutting mat for my sewing and some new fabric to go with my March SAL (update soon to come about this one).

Then, I got so amazed by the work from the Brisbane Quilters guild!

Some people are just so gifted! And my personal favourite was, of course, marine themed!

I just felt so inspired, I really want to start quilting! Maybe one day soon, when my WIPs list is smaller 🙂

Have you been to a craft fair recently? I would love to hear about your experience!

Poké-alphabet week 21

TGIF!

This week has been pretty tough at work with Properties and Facilities giving me a hard time (those guys have just been so lazy I don’t know what their deal is) and just lots of work to do.

This week I’ve done some substantial progress with my poke-alphabet but I am a bit disappointed with the colours for Vulpix. Oh well, too lazy to frog it now!

So that is Vulpix finished, the outlines done for Wooper and Xatu and I started on the pokeball.

Can you guess what Y and Z will be?

Liebster Award: take 2!

LiebsterAward-2

Happy Wednesday bloggers!

The title says it all, I have been nominated by the lovely blogger behind Sleepy Kitty Stitches for a Liebster Award! As this is my second time around, I would like to nominate all of you my awesome readers for this award. So let’s get to it, shall we?

I will answer the questions from Sleepy Kitty Stitches here, and you guys can do the same 🙂

  • Where/How did you learn the things you blog about?

My nana taught me how to knit and cross stitch but I taught myself crochet 🙂

  • What’s your favorite/most memorable vacation?

Probably when I was 10 and we went with my family to Sicily. My cousin, brother and I did quite a bit of exploration in our hotel and we had the best time with all the activities.

  • What’s the weirdest dream you’ve had recently?

I can’t remember exactly but probably something wedding related. Like everyone turning up with beach clothing when we’re having a formal wedding! How awful :/

  • What are you watching lately?

Anything superhero related. Can’t wait for Batman VS Superman next week!

  • If you had to be reincarnated as an animal, what would you be?

Probably a cat, I’d love to just spend my days basking in the sun and getting pats! Bliss

  • What do you like to learn about (in school or in life)?

I love learning new things, both for leisure (I’m always up for a new craft challenge) or for work (I am a researcher after all!).

  • Growing up, what were your favorite toys to play with as a child?

I don’t really remember a specific toy but I did spend a lot of time playing Pokemon on my GameBoy 🙂

  • Wish one thing to come true this year, what would it be?

This is an easy one! That I get to marry the man of my life 🙂

  • Would you rather visit the world 100 years into the past or 100 years into the future?

100 years in the past would be in the middle of WWI, so probably 100 years in the future!

  • What makes you antsy if you haven’t done it in a while? (What relaxes you?)

Anything craft related. Also I do love my tea 🙂

  • What would you do if you did not have to work? (If you pick travel, be specific!)

I would create a yarny paradise in my home! And I would still probably go to work because I  really like what I do and I would get waaaay too bored otherwise

And finally, you can find random facts about myself here!

Sorry I didn’t quite followed the format, I’m sure you’ll forgive me!

Granny squares blanket update

Happy Monday lovely people!

I have been really slack lately on my granny blanket but I’m trying to get it finished by the end of the month so I started joining the squares.

Because of all the different sizes, I’ve had to shuffle the squares around to find the best position.

This is what I’ve got so far 🙂 and those are the other squares I have finished.

Hope you all had a good weekend 🙂

Poké-alphabet week 20

I managed to get 2 done this week (or rather 1 and 1/2 considering I did Teddiursa’s outline last week).

U was hard to find because not many Pokemon start with an U. I settled for Uxie in the end and I quite like it 🙂

Coming soon…

After a day of statistical tests at work (which means really NOT a fun day) I felt like I deserved a little break so I worked on some graphs for the upcoming LOTR CAL 🙂

I will see how I go with my monthly goals but if I manage to get enough of my WIPS done in March, I will start releasing/working on the LOTR graphs on April 1st (not an April’s fool!)

This is a small sneak peak at what I’ve done so far.

If there is someone/something from the LOTR universe you would like to see, don’t hesitate to let me know! 🙂
