Back to normal

Hello awesome people!

I’m back to my normal posting schedule! I must say that being back home has made my life easier for crafting.

I got to try my new loom and I’ve already put together a very nice and soft cowl using the infinity stitch. I was so surprised how fast this one actually worked up.

It is still a bit hot to wear at the moment but it will be nice for the winter.

I have also been obsessing over those slippers seen on Pinterest but I couldn’t find any pattern for them until now! I couldn’t find any local shop selling Drops Eskimo yarn so instead I got this gorgeous Vera Moda yarn.

I love the feel of it but it was a bit hard to work with at first because it breaks easily if the yarn untwists.

So far, this is what I’ve got.

And the finished product should look something like that.

That’s it for my Wednesday, I hope you all have good plans for tomorrow night (we’re going to see fireworks, I’m pretty excited!)

Lots of love

Holidays bliss and Christmas madness

Hello bloggers!

How good it feels to be on holidays! I had a blast last week doing nothing (or not much anyway) before this crazy weekend of Christmas celebrations.

My fiancé and I spent a few day at the Twin Waters Novotel resort and it was just great to only be the two of us relaxing. The resort was pretty amazing, with access to canoes and catamarans for free and a private salt lake.

There was even a floating obstacle course on the lake! Of course, we had to try that, and it was pretty good (although I just couldn’t move my arms after 20 minutes of climbing, jumping and swimming around).

I also got to try the new Ben & Jerry’s Core ice cream and it was so yummy. There is chocolate fudge inside the ice cream, ALL THE WAY THROUGH! And of course, I also took my fav hook and some yarn to work on some hexagons for my winter afghan, which is getting along pretty good.

On the last day, we were having a walk around the lake and we met this guy. I was glad it was the last day, not sure I would have been too keen swimming in the lake with him around (it’s a grouper, and even if they are normally non aggressive, they have very big mouths and pretty huge teeth!).

Excuse the bad photo, it was taken with my phone from the surface.

We also visited Underwater World in Mooloolaba (it was my first time) and the marine biologist in me was squealing with excitement!

And for a perfect end to a perfect week, we had 3 Christmas celebrations (Christmas eve, Christmas day and Boxing day) and I even got some craft related presents! I could not wait so I’ve already made a pigmy octopus from the 75 fish, shells, coral and marine creatures crochet book I received and she has joined my marine diorama.

I hope you guys all had an amazing Christmas and that you are ready for the new year!

Poké-alphabet week 9

Only 1 week until Christmas!!!!! I haven’t made much progress on my Pokemon alphabet but at least I have done a little!

I’m pretty excited though because today I dropped my first yarnified love bomb at my uni and I really hope it makes someone’s day 😊

I will also try over the weekend to dye some evenweave fabric I bought today, using natural ingredients (probably some spices). I’ll keep you guys posted if it works (and probably if it fails as well!).

some plain fabric ready to get a makeover

Oh and don’t think I have forgotten about the bulbasaur plush pattern, I’m just trying to make it look as nice and easy to cut out as possible 😉

In the mean time, have a great day/ evening/ night and happy crafting 😊

The lights at the end of the road

Almost quite literally this time!

I don’t know if you have that at home, but in Australia, some people have mad skills at decorating their homes for Christmas. Tonight we went to see the runner up and the winner of our area for best light display and it was quite amazing!

I’m afraid that the pics don’t really do the lights any justice, it was truly magical!

And I have finished my Christmas presents at last!

Bulbasaur is ready to be gifted on Saturday!

And this is part of my secret Santa, for a fishing lover 🙂

Hope you guys are finished or almost there with all your amazing gifts!

Almost theeeere!

Happy Monday everyone! Only a few days left before some well deserved holidays! Yay!

I’ve been working on the bulbasaur plush and I’m glad to say it is almost finished 🙂 and it looks pretty good!

I really hope that my friend likes it 🙂 also I’ve designed the pattern using bits and pieces so I’ll put together a pdf and make it available to you guys in case you want to make your very own bulbasaur 😉

I haven’t done much crochet lately but I have in mind to finally finish my winter themed afghan. I’m using a motif found in “The knitting and crochet bible” and I’m alternating colours between white, pale blue and grey. I don’t have a pic to show you right now (I’m in bed and too lazy to go take one) but I’ll put one up on Wednesday 😊

Sooo I know I’m addicted but I made another cross stitched bookmark. This time though I added a back to it to hide the “wrong” side.

What do you guys think of it? The design is inspired from Thumbelina (I was obsessed with this cartoon when I was younger).

Wishing you all a great week

Lots of love

P.S. Who is excited for Star Wars? I know I am! Just booked our tickets today, I just can’t wait!!!!

Poké-alphabet week 8

And another very full week is over! I’ve literally started to day dream about holidays. I’m just so happy we are getting 2 full weeks off from the PhD madness. I found some time this week to continue on my poké-alphabet (or at least, the outline).

I also just finished to sew bulbasaur’s body. Now onto the bulb!

And tomorrow, Christmas shopping! Yay! I feel like a little kid in a candy store!

A very very happy weekend to y’all!

Christmas wips

Ohohoh! Christmas is around the corner and I just can’t wait!!! I’ve realised that although my family’s presents are done, I still need to get going for my friends!

I only have the head so far but this will be a bulbasaur plush for my friend (I already made her a bulbasaur cross stitch for her birthday). She really liked the umbreon one I’ve made for myself and I thought this would be a good surprise 🙂

I’ve also been working on some cross stitch pattern for thumbelina (one of my all time favourite childhood animated movie).

It looks weird at the moment because they have no hair! I’ll be aiming to have a pattern for each of her outfit in the movie (she has a few!) and I might add a quote and some of her friends (Jacquimo anyone?)

That’s it folks!

Hope you are all on track for your Christmas gifts! Only 2ish weeks to go!

Stash busting part 2!

Hey hey everyone! What a busy weekend! The birthdays were great, we had yummy food and plenty (too much?) of wine.

I realised I didn’t show you my 2 jellyfish finished!  The pink one is mine and the blue one is for my best friend (hello Christmas present!)

introducing mister jelly 1 and 2

The picture is a bit dark but the tentacle are very very colourful and are the results of my attempt at stash busting

I’m saying attemp here because although the 2 jellies have quite a few tentacles, my stash was still pretty full!

So, I’ve decided to start a new stash busting project: the corner to corner rainbow blanket! I followed this free pattern and just changed yarn after 6 rows or when it ran out. As you can see, mainly when it ran out!

I absolutely love it, it’s so unique and colourful!

What’s your best stash busting project?

S’more cross stitch

I might have slightly missed Friday’s post 😁 I got very excited because I finished all my Christmas cards and all my bookmarks and I forgot to post before going to bed.

Oh well!

So here is my “petit prince” finished 😊 I’m sure my mum will love it, this book is one of her all time favourites and it’s not hard to understand why!

From now on I will also be following the lovely Hélène’s mystery SALs.

I’ve already started the Christmas one, and I was a bit late so I’m allowed to post the first step already.

From next year onwards, a small fee will be asked to join the SAL (10€ for 24 grids) but if you ask me it’s well worth it. Hélène’s designs are just amazing. The theme for next year is stained glass windows and I can’t wait!

This weekend will be very busy, it’s my other half’s birthday on Monday and we have a weekend of fun planned (another birthday party tonight, restaurant and games day tomorrow). I doubt I’ll get too much craft done but hopefully I’ll have some party pics to show you on Monday!

Have a great weekend

😘
