Mystery Afghan CAL – week 10

That’s it! My mystery afghan is complete! I was unsure if I would like it at some point during the CAL but now it’s finished I absolutely love it!    

 Now that it is starting to get warmer, I will move on to more cross stitch. I have started this week my first Pokemon on my Poke-alphabet and here it is so far! 

A is for Alakazam

 

I haven’t quite finished the pattern either so I’ll post that when I’m done and I’ll give updates on Fridays 😊

Mystery Afghan CAL – week 9

After many adventures this week to get the right yarn, I finally got week 9 completed!

I knew I was going to run out of my contrast B, so last week I went to the shops and got what I thought was an extra skein of contrast B. Turns out I got the wrong colour!

So I had to go back to the city to get a new skein today.

And I just finished week 9!

really like the bobble stitch row of the border!

Mystery afghan CAL – week 8

This is just a quick post before I have to leave for the Great Barrier Reef! 

I might actually be a bit late for week 9 next week, as I’ll only be back on Wednesday very late. 

Without further due, here it is! 
Week 8 was adding 2 rows for the border. I actually really like how the colours from last week come through the first row and the crosses look very cool on the second row.

Mystery Afghan CAL – week 7

The initial 20 squares have been put together but I haven’t finished adding the extra 5.  

I really like this binding method it looks very good!

Mystery Afghan CAL – week 5

Hello awesome people and happy Friday! 

I am finally at yes half way point for this CAL, and this week’s step was very easy which is good because I really needed to get started with some birthday gifts. 

The step was to add a centre piece on each of the squares. 

 
  

Pretty groovy right? 😊

I’ve also finished the little cactus for my friend 🌵 (I just added a pink flower on top) and got started with a pink elephant amigurumi 🐘 for another birthday in September (in 2 weeks actually).

Mystery Afghan CAL – week 4

I am almost half way through this CAL and I have already learnt so much. I have to admit I was a bit afraid at one point that I wouldn’t like the final design but I absolutely loved this week’s step! 

Without further waiting, here are my week 4 finished squares

when all put together, it’s becoming a reasonable size

For this week, we had to work around our previous steps in colour A, while making sure to leave the long bits (colour D, in pale grey for me) at the front. The tutorial videos are actually very useful for this CAL, just to make a bit more sense of the pattern alone. My squares are currently blocking and waiting for the next step, so stay tuned 😉

Mystery Afghan CAL – week 3

Happy Friday lovely people! Once again it is time for the yarnspiration CAL update! 

Week 3 was 2 rounds, one in colour C and one in colour D.

Also I got started with a stitching project, I’m embroiding water Pokemon on a cotton square. 

I’m starting with relicanth, he is one of my favourites.

Mystery Afghan CAL – Week 2

And it is Friday again! This week went rocket fast, and I’m glad because I can finally see my man after a whole 5 days away! I am also excited to show you the progresses I’ve made on my mystery afghan this week.

The second step was to add a kind of cross over last week’s granny square, using colour B (you can see which colours I’ve chosen here). To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the result on a single square.

But when all of them were finished I quite liked them all together.

What do you guys think of the week 2 results? I still wonder if the finished product will be big enough to use as a lap afghan. I guess I shall wait and see!

Mystery Afghan CAL – Week 1

Happy Friday everyone!

I am glad that this week is over, it has been just exhausting! I still found some time to finish week 1 of the Mystery Afghan yarnspirations CAL. The step was pretty simple, just had to crochet 20 granny squares.

And here they are!

I’m currently blocking them so they all have the same shape and size. I’ve been pretty inconsistent but hey! that’s what blocking is for!

Here are most of them (some are still at the blocking stage)

This was actually the first time I tried blocking crochet and it worked super well! I was very glad I tried it, it made all my squares perfectly the same shape and size. Also those are the 4 colours I have chosen for this CAL.

From top to bottom: Colour A: Claret, B: Fuchsia, C: Nude and D: Bone.

I’m thinking the afghan won’t be very big with only 20 squares and I’m a bit worried I won’t be able to use it to warm up in front of the TV. Has anyone already completed this CAL and could tell me how big it is once finished? I might just double the number of squares.

Now onto week 2! Stay tuned for next week’s progress 😉
