Hand Quilt Along – 26/11/17

Happy Sunday!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I know I sure did!
This is our second HQAL, and I’m super excited to show you my progress. It’s been modest, but still, I did get some sewing done so it’s a win!
We have some new people joining us this month, so make sure you are giving them some love by visiting their posts! I am in Australia so I’m probably the first one (or one of the firsts) to post, so keep that in mind too 😊
Without further ado, here is my progress, with a picture from last time as well!

That’s definite progress in my book! I hope you all have a great week!

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
Here are the others participating in this HQAL, please go check their posts!

Hand Quilt Along – 05/11/17

Hello lovely readers!
I hope you have all had a great weekend! Like I mentioned on Friday, I am super excited to join in the new Hand Quilt Along hosted by Kathy! For this HQAL, I will be working on my EPP. I had not worked on it for a while and this QAL is the perfect opportunity!
Here is where I was at last time I showed it to you.

And here is where I am at now!

So quite a bit of progress made, I bought quite a few new fabrics when I was in Europe with this quilt in mind. My plans are to hand quilt it too once I’ve finished the quilt top, using the sashiko technique.

July wrap up

Happy Wednesday lovelies ❤️

The time has come again to look back on the past month. I’m not sure how much I will get done in the next few months, as we are planning our big move interstate by the end of August and I will be aways for most of September. One thing is sure, I’ll be busy!

Here are my yarny makes, I got one more of my LOTR squares finished, I finished a pair of socks and started a new pair. Oh and let’s not forget Dumbo, my cute deep sea octopus 🐙 (I’m hoping to have the pattern up next week).

I didn’t get much needlecraft done, actually I did but I had no finish, so nothing to show you yet. I always feel like winter is a better time for crochet and knitting, and my stitching always suffers a bit during the colder months. I did try a new craft though, English Paper Piecing, and I really enjoy it!

And of course, I participated in the Fantastic Bake Along, for which I chose the recipe! A quiche lorraine! Yum 🙂

So not many makes this month, but hopefully I’ll get a few more things finished before we move away and I have to pack all my craft gear (yes, when you’re at the point that it takes half the couch, I’m calling it gear!)

I hope you guys have had a great July and that you’re ready for August!

English paper piecing

Happy Wednesday readers!

A couple of weeks ago, a saw a really cool post on Kais (Empress Fibres) blog: a tutorial to English paper piecing! I have always been intrigued by this and the tutorial was so well done that I decided to jump right into it! I first wanted to use scallops shapes but I realised that I was way over my head with the curves 😅 Maybe when I get a bit more practice!

So I ended up going for a jewel shape, I really like it and it’s only straight lines, so manageable for a total beginner!

I decided to print out my own shapes, I printed them on carboardy paper, and they’ve been holding their shape quite well! I used a free template I found on Google with a bunch of shapes, so I’m prepared for the years to come!

I just really enjoy it, it’s super relaxing and there are so many possibilities! This is what I’ve got so far.

Do you see the hearts?

I wish you guys a great end of the week! ❤️
