Happy Monday lovely readers!
This weekend I had some prime craft time while watching the Harry Potter movies 😊 I have been having yarn everywhere though lately and so I decided to make myself a new project bag to keep all my yarn in. I made it using calico and it’s actually pretty huge! I even put in a zipper and I was very please with how it turned out (excuse the wrinkledness, I still haven’t found my iron!)
You have probably noticed as well the red patch on the bag? Because the fabric is calico, I thought it would be cool to have a long term project to decorate the bag with cross stitch, and so I’ve made a start on this cute little star fish! I just love how tiny the stitches are and I’m sure it will look great once I’ve done more around it too.
And lastly, I just wanted to show you what’s currently in the bag! My Blurre shawl from Addydae Designs 😍 I love everything about this shawl and I can’t wait to finish it, hopefully before the 30th of June so that I can enter it in the CAL!
What have you guys been working on lately? Do you have project bags to keep your crafting area tidy(er)?
Happy Monday readers!
First, I’d like to thank everyone for your lovely comments and suggestions on buying yarn online. I’ve followed the advice that a few of you gave me and placed an order with Wool Warehouse, and I got Scheepjes Catona in a few different colours (I will post a picture when my squishy parcel arrives).
Like I said last week, I’ve got this shawl idea stuck in my head for a little while now and I have finally started on making some swatches for the different stitches I want to use.
The top picture is the star stitch, it took me a little while to figure it out but I ended up getting it after watching this tutorial from the Crochet Crowd. On the bottom right is some kind of net stitch worked up in triangles (I’m still a bit unsure about this one) and on the bottom left is a shell stitch. I had to try this one a few times as I wanted to include a decrease in the pattern with the same slope as decreasing the net or the star stitches. I have also re-done a starfish in filet crochet and I really like this version so it will be the one I keep. And last but not least I have made this little fishy using tapestry crochet.
I’m really liking how all the elements are turning out, now I just hope that when my yarn arrives and I start crocheting, everything comes together well, but only time will tell 😊
I wish you all a great week!
I have finally made trials for a shark appliqué, and I’m really happy with the results! What do you guys think?
I’ve also been trying filet crochet, and I have to say that it’s such a cool technique! I’ve done some starfish and I’ve tried either having the starfish in ‘solid’ or in ‘filet’. I’m not sure which one I prefer, the idea would be to turn one of those into a shawl. I think that I will use the design on the left regardless, I like that starfish better than the other one. Which one do you prefer?
I’m also hoping to get some cross stitch finished by Friday, but we’ll see, this week has been crazy!
