I’m very excited to say that I have finally finished my Mercury socks! yay! They took me a bit longer because I made a whole other pair of socks in between and also I was away all last week, so that made me a bit slow.
Here they are! I’m actually pretty excited that they are matching so well. I’ve already cast on another pair (cause you know I love starting projects!), but I’ll talk more about those on Wednesday 😉
On other news, who is watching GoT??? I’m watching it right now, and it’s good! And also thanks to Tami and Rebecca I’ve started playing the Sims again 😁 lots of fun!
Happy Friday lovely readers!
I have been busy this week but I can’t quite show you what I’ve been up to, so I thought instead I would share some of the knitting projects I’m planning on making in the next few weeks and hopefully this will keep me accountable!
I have some yarn leftover from the Aquagirl skein and I am planning on making a pair of socks for my mum 🙂 I showed her the yarn last week and she loved it! Because I’m not quite sure how much yarn I will need though, I have decided to make her a pair of toe up socks using this pattern.
At the same time I got Aquagirl, I also got the beautiful Seafoam colour way, and I want a pair of socks for myself with them. As I am a little bit obsessed with Harry Potter, I’ve decided to make the Hermione’s everyday socks. I think that the pattern on the yarn will be very nice with the pattern for the socks.
And the last thing I want to knit is a beanie for my little cousin. I’ve browsed a few patterns and I’ve found this simple but cute pattern on Ravelry for the Bankhead beanie.
What do you guys think? Do you have a favourite beanie pattern?
Can you believe how fast this month has gone by? This was a super busy month for me, I’ve actually been knitting like a madwoman! Can you believe I’ve finished 2 and half pairs of socks? Yes! I have finished my beautiful Aquagirl socks (actually not mine, they are Tracy’s!) From left to right, the patterns I used are Sock it to me! by Patons, Mercury socks by Kim Drotar and Glynis by Cookie A.
I’ve also been crocheting fingerless gloves (Charmed gauntlets by Nerdish Delights) and a shawl (Blurre by Addydae Designs) to keep me warm.
And of course I’ve been doing some cross stitching as well, albeit not as much as I would have wanted (it’s actually quite hard to stitch with cold fingers). I’ve only just finished the May SAL from Helene et Mahelia, in June, shame on me!
One of my main goals for July will be to catch up on my SAL and to decorate my project bag, and because I like multitasking, I’m actually going to stitch the SAL on my bag! Talk about genius! I also have plans to finish a beautiful crochet top from Oceans Originals, I have been delayed slightly as I ran out of yarn (I’m sorry Kelley I’m getting on to that asap!) And of course, I can see more socks in my future, now that I’ve started there is no stopping me!!
I wish you all a super productive month! I hope it’s productive for me too 😊
I know, it’s the end of June, but I’ve only just finished my May mystery stitch along from Hélène et Mahélia. I think that I’ve been so cold when I was down in Melbourne that I haven’t been motivated to cross stitch much but I really want to get back to it, because I just really love this year’s designs 😊
May was birds again, and just look at them, they are adorable!
I still need to finish off the April one and obviously do this one as well, I might get them done over the weekend.
In other random news, today was Dobby the house elf’s birthday apparently, and so I wore two different socks (mostly cause I couldn’t find my second grey sock from the washing 😂). I thought some of you who are as obsessed with Harry Potter as me might enjoy the gesture 😁
Happy Monday readers!
It looks like I’ve skipped my Friday post 🙈 whoops! It’s actually probably better that way, I have mostly been working on the same projects so maybe it wasn’t as interesting anyway. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather last week, but after this weekend I feel motivated again and ready to get on with this new week!
I have a half object (HO) today, my Sock it to me! made with the Aquagirl yarn from Fibre Revolution 😊 I love this yarn even more after working with it! It’s super soft and I love all the pops of colours, I actually think that the sock pattern I used shows them so well too.
I also wanted to share with you 4 podcasts/ video blogs that I’ve really been enjoying so much in the last month. I feel like video blogs have been very popular lately, and I love being able to put a face and a voice to those bloggers. The only negative is that I get serious yarn envies and that I’ve been spending more money, but it’s supporting small businesses, so it’s okay right? 😁 Those are is no particular order, please also share with me if there is any other podcast I must watch!
- Potter and Bloom – I just love Emma, she makes me laugh and I love seeing all her beautiful crocheted and knitted objects. I’ve back watched all her episodes because I enjoy watching her so much (I hope that doesn’t sound too creepy 😂) She is actually the one who inspired me to start knitting again and her designs are the cutest!
- Zeens and Roger – Rosina is just so relatable and I love how honest she is about everything! I particularly enjoyed watching footage of her crochet corner of shame (it made me feel better about mine 😂) and since I have been follower her blog for a while too, it’s like getting to know a friend better.
- Lottie and Albert – Lindsey has just started her video blog adventure and I have been following her from the beginning. My favourite thing about her podcast is how enthusiastic she is, it really inspires me to see how excited she gets about projects and yarn, and I can totally relate to that!
- Addydae Designs – I have already talked about Deanne before, she is the designer for the Blurre shawl and I am obsessed with how mine is turning out! I love her humour too, and I love that she is an Aussie! It’s so great to learn about all the yarny events happening here and to learn about all the wonderful local dyers! Beware though, she is a serious enabler 😊
That’s it for me today! If you have other podcasts you love, please share! And have a great week!
Happy Wednesday readers!
I’ll keep today’s post short and sweet, I’ve been mostly working on socks as you may have guessed! Also I received some AMAZING yarn that I got from Fibre Revolution. Carmela is a Brisbane local, and her hand dyed yarn is just so pretty! I got two colours on her sock base, Sea Foam (left) and Aqua Girl (right).
How amazing right? I’ve started another pair of socks straight away with Aqua Girl and I’m using the Sock it to me pattern from Yarnspirations.
I am so in love with the colours, especially all the speckles, they are the best! Also the yarn is so soft and it’s been so nice to work with! Did I mention I started tonight? And fear not, I have not forgotten my Mercury socks, I have actually finished the first one on Saturday, so it took me less than a week to make one, I’m so please with myself ☺️
The fit is perfect and I love how the colours change.
That’s it for today, I hope you guys are all having a great week (I’ve been marking exams and I can tell you I’ve been having a good laugh with some of the answers!)
Happy Wednesday readers!
I hope you are having a good week so far, mine has been pretty busy after the break last week. I have been on a sock rampage, I have only started those Mercury socks on Sunday and look how much I’ve done already!
I have turned the heel already and have started knitting the foot. I really love how the yarn stripes, the colours are just so cheerful! The pattern I’m using is a free pattern on Ravelry from Kim Drotar and I like it a lot, especially how easy it is to remember. I’ve also been loving my new 9 inches (30 cm) circular needles, they are just so good for this type of socks and I feel like they’ve made it much faster.
I also have received my yarn order finally! yay! I got 4 colours and the yarn is from Scheepjes (it’s Catona which is mercerised cotton). I followed your advice and went to Wool Warehouse, and honestly it was a very good price, especially for shipping all the way to Australia.
Aren’t the colours pretty? I’ve already started the first row of the shawl I’m planning to make, I really hope that it works as I see it in my head but only time will tell!
That’s it for me, what are you bunch up to? I’d love to hear from you! And if you want a bit more updates, check my Instagram, I’ve been trying to post a bit more there, I’m @emmacraftsdesign if you’re interested 🙂
Hello wonderful readers!
I’m super happy today, because I’ve finished my first sock! I probably should have started with an easier pattern for my first pair, but I just fell in love with the details. The pattern is from the book “Sock Innovation” and, like the title says, it is the Glynis design.
It’s also getting quite cool here after the time torrential rains from last week, so I’m quite pleased with how warm this sock is! Now, to knit the second one!
Just a quick one today, I’ve finished the leg of one of my socks! Yay! I have a feeling that making the second one is going to take a while! I will also be putting socks on hold until Christmas as I keep on coming up with new present ideas (yes I know I’m actually a bit late for that but I’m only just getting inspired now!)
Anyway, here is the sock.
More about those presents on Friday 😉
