Happy mail and early presents

Happy Friday everyone!

I’ve finally been able to catch up on some blog reading today and I realised that I haven’t shared with you the happy mail I received recently.

A few weeks ago, I won a giveaway hosted by the wonderful Bogga from Knitting in France. Bogga is very talented and is always doing test knits, which is super fun to look at because it makes you want to start all the projects! She also dyes her own yarn and this is what she sent me as a prize for her giveaway, which was super exciting! She didn’t just send me yarn though, she also added so many stitch markers, a few key-rings and a cute little pouch in which I’m now keeping my stitch markers. Did I mention I got very spoilt?

I’m thinking I will make socks with the yarn, I quite fancy having a pair of lacy pink socks for the summer!

This week, I also received my spinning wheel, quite early considering my birthday is still in 3 weeks but I’m grateful we received it early so that I’ll have time to use it before baby is here. It’s a Kiwi2 from Ashford (a New-Zealand company) and it even came with some wool top to spin!

Isn’t it pretty? I put it together yesterday and I’m so pleased with it, I love the double treadle system and I really like the light wood colour. Funnily, the chair I’m using to spin is actually not too bad on my back so I will be able to make good progress on my alpaca fleece in the next few weeks hopefully!

Have a great weekend and happy crafting everyone!

  1. I love the Ashfords website, it’s like yarn porn: the silk/merino sliver for felting is just fabulous. For us here in Australia it’s fairly affordable too.

  2. Hi Emma
Well done – your present is amazing. I also like your spinning wheel although I am not much of a knitter or crochet person. I love cross stitch and embroidery techniques more. Also Happy Birthday in advance – it is my Birthday tomorrow 1st Sept. Good Luck with baby, hope you are all very happy.

    • Hi Daisy! I have to say I’ve been a bit slack with my cross stitch/embroidery, I find it hard in winter. I feel like it’s too cold and snuggling under a blanket or a jumper feels better 😊 happy birthday for tomorrow I hope you have an amazing day and that you get spoilt! 😘

    • I’ve been having so much fun with it Jess, have you tried spinning before?

I’ve never tried spinning. I’m not sure my poor weak and would do well with it (and i don’t reckon I could do it lying down) but it looks fascinating

      • That’s fair enough. I know they do have electric wheels now though, so you don’t have to use the pedals but can still spin (maybe even lying down?). The issue is that you would totally want to try it first and I’m not sure where you could do that.
