Hand Quilt Along – 26/08/18

Hello everyone!

I’m a bit late to share my progress on my EPP. There is not as much as I would have liked but the last few weeks have been very busy with friends and family visiting us so my normal crafting time has been somewhat disturbed.

Here is my progress for this time.

I can almost see the end but it’s been more and more uncomfortable for me to sit for long periods of time, the reason being that baby has decided that he would have a growth spurt and is now measuring 4 weeks ahead of schedule. He has been pushing on my sciatic nerve a lot so I’m struggling finding a good position and I have to lay down most of the time (which isn’t very practical to sew).

Anyway, I hope you made more progress than me, next time I show you this baby might have been born, which is exciting! Don’t forget to check out all the beautiful work done by the others participating in the HQAL.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

  1. Oh Emma, when your post wasn’t up this am I was really wondering! I knew you were due towards fall but not sure exactly when. 😊 You might be wishing for more progress, but spending time with those you love is never wasted! Here’s to a calmer sciatic nerve and more stitching this round, and a safe delivery!

    • Thanks Kathy, I had to have an extra ultra sound last week and baby is measuring very big already so I think it might be for very soon! I’ve been stitching more this week but it’s been hard to stay sat for too long so I’ve been trying to alternate with standing for a bit and laying down.

  2. Some people will envy you the lying-down time, but I know how hard it is to get anything done in that position. So I’m pretty impressed to see that there’s still progress to show!

    • Honestly I’m not a lying down kind of person, I always need to have lots of things going, so this is making me a bit crazy 😦 I’m looking forward to him being born so that I can move properly again!

    • Thanks Karrin! I hope it goes away when baby is born, fingers crossed! and in the mean time I’m not giving up and I’ll keep on stitching, even if I have to do it while stretching! lol

    well done on progress Emma.
Are medical staff sure it’s a growth spurt, and not just that they got the dates wrong?

    • Thanks Claire 😀 Yes, they (and I) are really sure, I was certain about the dates and he was measuring perfectly at 31 weeks when I was 31 weeks at my last appointment. And I think it would explain why I’ve been feeling so drained in the last few weeks too, little parasite probably stealing all my food! 😅

Oh, my that’s very close! The baby, I mean, LOL. How exciting. I remember the last month as being about a year long! It looks like a lot of progress to me, especially considering how uncomfortable you are.

    • It’s definitely so close but I can’t wait to meet him! the last months are feeling so so long but at the same time I also feel like it has gone super fast, it’s a weird feeling! I think it’s the lack of sleep 😂 I’ve been able to stitch more this week so hopefully the top will be almost finished or finished when baby is born, that would be great!

  8. Having family and friends over is such a gift! I can relate to baby getting bigger and not being able to get comfortable! You will make progress even if it’s slowly :o)

    • I’m happy to know I’m not the only one! I think that he feels he still has space, his favourite thing at the moment is stretching so that I have his bum under my right ribs, his feet under my left ribs and his head pushing on my sciatic nerves. At least he isn’t breech lol And yes at the moment I take any progress as good progress 😀
