Fantastic Bake Along – Maple scones

FantasticBakeAlong

Happy Saturday everyone!

Like every month, I’m participating in the Fantastic Bake Along hosted by Tracy @itsatsweetday. This time, Tracy is also our star baker and she chose an amazing recipe for Maple scones, which you can find on her blog.

It was actually very funny because I had never made scones before this month, but I decided last week to make scones to have with cream and jam, with no idea that scones would also be this month’s bake along recipe. This recipe was quite different from the one I’ve been using though. It was quite a fast recipe to make and I really liked the addition of vanilla extract to the dough, it really gives it a nice flavour.

I followed exactly the recipe, except that I used a cookie cutter to make my scones rather that just cutting them roughly.

Fifteen minutes later, they were perfectly baked and ready to eat. And how yummy were they!

  1. Yummy! Yours look really good Emma. I’m curious about the differences between your previous recipe and this one?

    • The previous recipe I used was super basic. 3 cups of self-raising flour, 1 cup 1/4 of milk, 80 g of butter, bake for 20 min at 200C (400F). Then put cream and jam on top 😊 Easy peasy!

  2. Scone heaven!! I didn’t think about using a cookie cutter. Great idea! I agree with the other awe of this recipe. It looks like the recipe would be tricky, but nope, it’s a breeze! Thanks for baking along. It is always a highlight of the month:)❤️❤️

  5. Yum, your scones look delicious. I thought about cutting mine with a cookie cutter, but I like that wedge look, too, so I went with that this time around.

    • Thanks Kate! I saw yours and they look great too in a wedge, I think I just liked the idea of not struggling to make the perfect circle to cut in 8 for the wedges (I can be a bit of a perfectionist unfortunately!)
