Spinning take 4 – Batts!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I’m very excited to show you my spinning progress today! We made batts over the weekend, from a very large stash of fibre brought by our instructor.

Oh my goodness! So many colours to choose from! So all of us had free range to chose any fibre we wanted from that enormous pile, and just this part was so much fun! We all came out with very different batts which was super cool. Mine is on the bottom left 🙂

One of the ladies also started plying her combo spin with some of her other hand spun and it looked amazing!

I’m also very pleased with myself because over the weekend I have managed to spin my whole batt! and I just love those autumnal colours and also how much progress I’ve made! look how thin it looks compared to my first hand spun!

This is my last week with the wheel so I will be spinning my left over Corriedale wool and next week during class I will be plying this spun batt. We also got given some other bits of fibres so I might also spin those while I still have the wheel!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  6. your spinning looks great! I’m really sad this class is ending as I enjoy these posts! I think you should buy a spinning wheel…

    • it’s definitely the plan to buy a wheel! I’m waiting until September probably though, as I have my birthday that month and in the mean time we are saving for the baby. I will make sure to show what I make with my hand spun yarn too, I have already so many plans!
