FO – Read Between the Lines

Hello lovely readers!

I just realised that I forgot to share my finished RBTL shawl with you! I finished it smaller than what it was meant to be because I really wanted to cast on my first jumper of the year, but it’s still plenty big for me!

I absolutely love how the colours turned out and how the stripes are coming out when you incline the shawl to the side. The shawl might not be warm enough for winter here though, as the yarn I’ve used is cotton. It’s great for right now though and will probably be good for spring too.

Now I’m very excited to show you the start of my jumper tomorrow! Have a lovely day 😊

Emma

  2. Such a beautiful color combination ❤ What a great finish! That one is still on my list (the crochet version) but I don't allow myself to start a new project until finishing at least one WIP …

    • It was actually not too bad because you don’t have to cast off at the end of every row. You just carry the yarn along on one side so as long as I turned my work the same way, I didn’t get tangling 😊

How interesting the stripes are. Now was that changing thread colors, or did you use a yarn that just pooled that way?

    • It’s actually a technique called illusion knitting. You create the illusion of stripes by changing the stitch you use evenly across the knit. And I was also using two different balls of yarn to have stripes the other way as well. It’s a really clever design from a Canadian lady and I was very glad to learn the technique.

  9. I do love the illusion when viewed from different angles. Another fab finish! I’ve got my eye on some blanket patterns like that from Woolly Thoughts on Ravelry.
