FO Friday (slightly late) – Bibs

Hello everyone and happy weekend!

I was meant to post this yesterday evening but I got home from work and was completely knackered so I couldn’t be bothered. I do think it is time to share though!

You may have noticed that I’ve been pretty inconsistent over the past few months in my posting and I’m my following of your blogs. I’ve been busy, true, but that’s not entirely all there is to it. I’m super excited to annonce to you that I’m pregnant with my fist baby! I’m now four months in, and starting to regain some more energy, so I think I will be crafting more and posting back on my regular schedule.

Of course, as soon as I found out I knew I had to make something straight away. I turned to Pinterest as I often do and found a very good tutorial to make bibs. I’ve already got warned by my family and my in laws that babies drool… a lot! And that you need long bibs so this pattern was perfect. I’ve set out to make plenty of bibs in cute fabrics (I’ve bought a few different patterns with animals on them). I don’t know the gender yet so I’ve just been getting gender neutral ones so far. I also had some stashed fabric in pink that I’ve used and I figured that it wouldn’t really matter even if it was a boy, because they’ll spend most time in the washing anyway, right?

Anyway, after much rambling, here is my first bib!

On one side the fabric is plain cotton and on the other it’s flannelette. I’ve heard they are great materials for baby items as they are soft and washable. I’ve already cut a few more and assembled a couple as well already but I forgot to take pictures before I left home so that will have to wait. I am just so excited and can not wait for baby to be here. Have an amazing weekend!

  1. Congrats! And if I may make a general suggestion, get more clothes, towels, burp rags, blankets, and diapers than you think you need.Trust me lol

    • Thank you 😊 and lol I’m definitely planning on it, but it’s the first grand baby on both sides of our families so I think we might end up with too much stuff 😂 it will be fun to find space at home to fit everything, that’s for sure!

  2. Oh congratulations to you and your husband. NO wonder you want that thesis gone by June!! The bibs are darling, and I don’t think you can have too many, you might go through 5-6 a day if you have a delightfully messy eater, though if it’s that many, I would consider a shower curtain!! 💐♥️👏

    • Hihi a shower curtain might be appropriate in that case! Although I have good hope because neither hubby or I were particularly messy as babies🤞 and yes, definitely want the thesis gone, although my supervisor has been so good and has offered to employ me as a casual until August so that’s good news! 😘

  5. Oh, bravo! I can quite understand why you’ve been too tired to blog. It’s hard work starting another human being! I do suggest making a few things for a slightly older baby too, or your little one will grow out of everything before you know it!

    • Thanks Kate! That is definitely the plan, I think I’ll make a few things in 6-12 months and a few more for 12+. The good thing with living in Melbourne vs. brisbane now is that I can do lots of knitting that will actually get used!

Congratulations! When I was pregnant I didn’t feel like making anything for the baby … actually I didn’t feel like crafting at all! Those bibs are so charming & will sure be of good use for your little one 🙂 What will you make next? 🙂

    • Thank you 😘 I was thinking of a really cute pair of knitted pants from a Melbourne designer I follow on Instagram, she makes the cutest baby clothes! Her name is WagtailKnits and there is just so much inspiration on her thread 😊

  12. congratulations! And don’t shy away from pink, why can’t boys wear pink? My bf looks gorgeous in his pink t-shirt!

    • Thank you 😊 Lol I just don’t really like pink in general, which is why I had so much stash of it 😂 must have gotten it on sale and never used it. But it’s good for bibs and you’re right, I don’t think that colour really needs to link to gender, it’s just that people assume if there is pink it’s a girl (pretty hard to tell when they are small!)
