Hand Quilt Along – 18/02/18

Happy Sunday!
For once, the progress I’m going to show you hasn’t been made this week, as I have been away from home, but actually almost three weeks ago, just after my last HQAL post!
I am quite happy with how this project is going, I have started to assemble the pieces separately from the main body of the quilt as it is getting bulkier. The width is approximately what it will be in the end (about 30″), so now I just have to add some length to it!
Until next time!
This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.Β  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
Here are the others participating in this HQAL, please go check their posts!

  5. I think you’re right to make sections to add onto the main piece. As someone who’s made two queensize bed quilts from hand-sewn hexies, I know that assembling them row by row is a recipe for getting so fed up with the job that you put it away in the cupboard. Assemble it in quarters, stitch two together side by side, and then you only have one long seam to do. Learning that lesson saved my sanity and my quilt from oblivion!

    • I will have to quilt it I think by that time, which I’m also planning on doing by hand πŸ™‚ then I might switch my focus to some cross stitching (I’ll have to ask Kathy but hopefully it still qualifies as hand stitching!)
