Hello lovely readers!
I have finished my first real knitted pair of socks (pairs 1 and 2 being more like slippers than actual socks) and I am completely converted! I have been wearing them all of today and they just are so warm and confortable (which is great because it’s been quite cold here). In fact, I love them so much that I have already cast on another pair for myself and I will also make a pair for Tracy over at It’s a T-Sweet Day (I’m sharing hand-knitted socks love ❤️)
The pair I finished is the Glynis design from Cookie A. and I used Schoppel-Wolle Admiral 4 ply in grey for them. I also just started the Mercury socks from Kim Drotar, and I’m using a gradient yarn in reds and oranges for those ones. I still need to chose a design for the ones I will make for Tracy but I’m sure I’ll find the perfect one soon.
These are my Glynis, aren’t they pretty? I predict a lot more socks to come, so if you have a sock pattern you love, please let me know in the comments 🙂
Love your socks! They look so cozy and soft. My favorite pattern is Ann Marie: Pink Ribbon Stockings by Erssie on Ravelry. It’s a free pattern, and they look and feel great.

I agree I’ve seen socks everywhere! And I may or may not watch way too many podcasts showing socks at the moment 😁

You should definitely give them a go, I didn’t think I would like the feel of knitted socks in shoes but I ended up really loving them!

Thanks Tami! Aren’t they pretty? 😍 I’m in love with them I didn’t even want to wash them, just keep on wearing them everyday 😂 (they are in the washing now though)

Very nice pair of fancy socks!! I knit socks for DH, which of course, must be PLAIN, and I still use the pattern I learned from…http://www.cometosilver.com/socks. They are just straight up and very well illustrated, so perfect for someone wanting to Lear how.

That would actually look great with a variegated yarn, the plain design would show the colours so nicely!

Too bad DH wants gray, steel blue or tan…such pizzazz there! 😉

These are so nice! Is it difficult to learn if you only know crochet? I want to make a pair for my sisters birthday, but that’s already in a month!

Thank you 😊 I’m honestly not sure because I’ve known how to knit since I was about 6. I think it would be okay to learn the knit and purl stitches (especially with YouTube, you could learn pretty fast) so maybe you could try simple socks in stockinette stitch but I wouldn’t recommend lace for your first socks, it takes ages and it can be quite hard at first to read lace charts. The pair I’m currently knitting has been really fast though, I started on last Sunday and I’ve pretty much finished the first one already so it can be done. I’m sorry I feel like I haven’t been very helpful there. The best way might just be to give it a go? Or you can try to find a crochet pattern for socks, I know that there are some very good ones out there, I just haven’t tried it myself.
